Villepinte, Ville Peinte

In Villepinte, France, Amélie Debray proposes an artistic experiment designed to bring together families from the city's Priority Neighborhoods (Quartiers Prioritaires de la Ville), who have been particularly hard hit by confinement. Inspired by the Getty Museum Challenge, participants choose a painting and then pose as a family. The idea is simple, and it calls on what Amélie Debray loves to do and share: construct photographic images.

The photographer likes to see the beginnings of an intimate, fictional narrative in each of her compositions, which she describes as “co-constructed”. Singular journeys within a rich and varied humanity, personal stories that, for the time of an image, step out of the frame and escape.
