Les Pieds

Seeking to deconstruct the stereotypes surrounding portraiture in photography, Amélie Debray has photographed the bare feet of celebrities.

Aware that portraiture is sometimes ineffective in capturing the singularity of others, she seeks other approaches to restore her subjects' humanity.

With Les pieds, she avoids the pitfalls of notoriety and reveals the intimate side of famous people, through their feet. Between exhibitionism and extreme modesty, the series walks the tightrope between Desmond Tutu, the Charlie Hebdo team, Philippe Noiret, Sandrine Kiberlain and Aurélie Dupont. Over a hundred French and South African personalities.
These photos have been exhibited in Cape Town, South Africa, at the Château Royal in Blois and at Point Ephémère in France.
